What happens if you bring the very best young creatives from literature, fashion, theatre, music, design, and digital arts together, give them four months, endless contacts and £1000? REMIX happens.

REMIX is an innovative multi-disciplinary performance project for the iPod-listening, blog-writing, Vogue-reading, YouTube-watching generation.

REMIX brings together a creative team of dynamic emerging practitioners who have asserted themselves as innovators in their own forms but who have never made a piece of theatre before. A writer, a designer, a photographer, a film maker, a band and a handful of performers will be chosen to create an multi-disciplinary performance for the 21st century.

REMIX is in partnership with Ment2Excel. Ment2Excel are a Creative Collective. As big players in grass roots event management, this new collaboration will facilitate the ambitious thinking and audience cross over that REMIX aspires for. Ment2Excel will ensure that REMIX has the hype of a popular club night whilst we ensure artistic quality and diversity.

Ment2Excel share our beginnings – they started 8 years ago, born in a flat and out of a desire for opportunities. We love what Ment2Excel are doing on the party scene so we’re excited to have them join us as partners in innovation . REMIX just got serious.” – Natalie Ibu

In January, the REMIX team went out on the streets looking for the very best creative minds, to create a live performance and four form adaptations that alchemize the theatre, visual art, virtual media, fashion, music and literary industries. They trawled events across London to watch artists spit their lyrics, graffiti up underground warehouses and fashion the fiercest of contemporary trends.

REMIX is created, promoted, and produced by emerging cultural entrepreneurs – the REMIX female phenomenon includes Artistic Director / co-Producer Natalie Ibu and co-Producer Lisa Macfarlane.

You might think you have been to an arts night, a poetry evening, a slam night or an arts club before. But you haven’t been to a REMIX night.

An original project based on the concept of creating a sustainable multi-disciplinary performance, REMIX recognises the importance of making theatre accessible, created by a culmination of art forms and mediums.

In order to survive, REMIX believes theatre must assert itself as a place for everyone.  This project aims to seduce our peers from gigs, cinema, performance poetry, events, clubs, galleries and bring them back into the theatre whilst also allowing the emerging artists to extend their networks, develop their portfolios, begin new working relationships and assert ourselves as gutsy and visionary practitioners of tomorrow.

REMIX has received £1000 support from the IdeasTap Innovator’s Fund.

“We were struck by the confidence and ambition of the REMIX project, and are convinced that Natalie is well placed to make it a success.  The panel liked the innovative way that the project works across a variety of art forms which is exactly the kind of project we aim to support through the Ideas Fund.”
