We live in a time when finances are at an all time low. And yet, West End ticket sales are at an all time high. What can we glean from this? When the chips are down, we Brits like nothing more than a bit of escapism, and we do make exceedingly good theatre.
It was with this sort of mentality that we approached the fundraising for REMIX. The world is still turning, new enterprises are still taking off and we ready for action.
Whilst we had all enjoyed individual success in our chosen fields, as a collective we had no back catalogue. This can prove tricky when you are looking to big funding bodies for grants. Natalie had won an encouraging pot of money from Ideas Tap, so this certainly gave us some kudos. It is always good, when talking perspective sponsors, that they are not the first to show support. We looked into various funds and grants from lots of foundations and trusts and after searching through the criteria and deadlines with a fine tooth comb it became apparent that this was not going to be the way for us.
At the core of REMIX is a group of people coming together. A group of people who were, for the most part, strangers. It is the people who make REMIX and that is what we decided to focus on when trying to fund raise. We decided to organise a series of parties in the build up to REMIX. Not only would it help to build our profile and get the word out on the street with experiential marketing, but it would be the thing to help us raise the funds. With such a varied group of people we could hold a number of parties using a number of address books without having to badger the same people over and over again, because no one likes a nag.
The result is four parties on our horizon which are shaping up to be spectacular nights out. With creative people throwing a party, you know you are in for a bit of a treat.
